About Brillante Academy
Brillante Academy Public Charter School opened its doors in August 2023 and currently serves over 420 students from the Rio Grande Valley in the Mission area and surrounding communities. In the 2026-2027 school year, Brillante will have PreK3 through 4th grade and will continue to grow one grade-level a year until 8th grade. Over the next decade, we plan to expand our network across the state of Texas to serve over 7,000 students. The Charter Management Organization (CMO) for Brillante Academy is Seton Education Partners, a Catholicly inspired organization that also manages the Seton Teaching Fellows missionary program and El Camino, an optional after-school Catholic faith formation program. Seton Education Partners is also the CMO for our sister schools, the Brilla Schools Network, which are having a transformational impact in Bronx, NY.

Position Overview
Brillante Academy is seeking a mission-driven Physical Education & Wellness Teacher to inspire students to develop healthy habits, physical fitness, teamwork, and lifelong wellness. The PE & Wellness Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality physical education instruction to students in grades K–4, promoting a positive school culture through health and wellness initiatives, and leading school-wide fitness events and activities. The ideal candidate believes that physical wellness is an essential component of academic success and character development and is committed to creating a joyful, inclusive, and engaging environment where all students can thrive. This position is managed, coached and supported by our Assistant Principal of Instruction. Your typical week would include a variety of tasks such as:
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned physical education lessons for students in grades K–4.
- Develop students' physical fitness, motor skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Establish and maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and families.
- Lead and coordinate school-wide wellness events, including but not limited to: Turkey Trot, Field Day, Fitness Challenges, etc.
- Assist with assemblies, student celebrations, and community events as needed
- Participate in professional development, coaching, and collaborative planning
- Collaborate with grade-level teams and school leaders to support student success
- Partner with School Nurse on wellness initiatives
- Maintain equipment, inventory, and organization of PE and athletic spaces
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and school policies
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee
Qualifications
- Belief in the Brillante Academy mission, model and values
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Texas certification in Physical Education preferred
- Experience with early childhood or elementary students preferred
- Experience organizing school-wide events and extracurricular activities
- Verbal and written fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
