About Brillante Academy
Brillante Academy Public Charter School will open its doors in August 2023 with Pre-K through 1st grade and serve over 350 students from the Rio Grande Valley in the Mission area and surrounding communities in its first year. We will grow one grade-level a year until 8th grade. Over the next decade, we plan to expand our network across the state of Texas to serve over 7,000 students. The Charter Management Organization (CMO) for Brillante Academy is Seton Education Partners, a Catholicly inspired organization that also manages the Seton Teaching Fellows missionary program and El Camino, an optional after-school Catholic faith formation program. Seton Education Partners is also the CMO for our sister schools, the Brilla Schools Network, which are having a transformational impact in Bronx, NY.

Position Overview
We are looking for highly dedicated individuals who bring an unwavering commitment to helping every scholar achieve their limitless potential and an eagerness to grow their instructional leadership and practices under the guidance of Brillante teacher. Teaching assistants are vital members of our team, and the role provides a valuable learning experience especially for those interested in becoming a lead teacher in the future. The primary objectives of a founding teacher assistant include:
- Supporting lead teachers in cultivating a joyful learning environment where every child feels safe, loved and inspired to strive for and meet Brillante’s ambitious goals.
- Assisting lead teachers in effectively teaching rigorous, two way, dual language immersion, classical plus curricula that results in meaningful student achievement and growth
- Contributing to a vibrant school culture through living the Brillante mission and core virtues, consistently implementing school-wide systems for instruction, culture and character development, frequently attending school-wide events, and championing our collective success
- Building meaningful relationships through listening, seeking to understand the perspectives of others, communicating clearly, kindly, and often, and recognizing and celebrating the dignity of every student, family and colleague
- Continuously learning and improving their practice through seeking and implementing feedback, collaborating deeply with others, engaging in data-driven instruction and on-going reflection, participating in professional development days, and utilizing other strategies aligned to their growth goals
In pursuit of these objectives, your typical week would include a variety of tasks such as:
- Delivering small group instruction to provide individualized support
- Preparing and delivering whole group lessons as assigned, and with support from lead teacher
- Assisting in customizing lesson plans and activities to meet the needs of individual students
- Collaborating with special education teacher to ensure students identified as needed personalized support are meaningfully included
- Helping teachers with administrative duties that support instruction and student learning (including but not limited to: attendance, material management and distribution, class newsletter, data tracking, student record keeping, operating technology, preparing lesson materials, making copies, etc.)
- Participating in team meeting, check-ins with manager, before and school duties, and other school-wide meeting and events
- Monitoring students during transition times throughout the school day including recess, lunch, etc.
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Belief in the Brillante Academy mission, model and values
- High School Diploma or GED
- An Associates Degree or minimum of 48 college hours
- Experience working with pre-K and/or lower elementary students preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred
